Application of white fused alumina in floor coatings
White fused alumina is mainly composed of high-purity α-alumina (Al2O3≥99.5%). It has high hardness (Mohs 9), strong chemical inertness, acid and alkali resistance, wear and scratch resistance, and a pure white color. It is a commonly used functional filler/wear-resistant aggregate in floor coating systems and is widely used in epoxy flooring, polyurethane flooring, polyurea flooring, self-leveling flooring, anti-static flooring, and anti-corrosion flooring.
I. Core Advantages of White Fused Alumina in Compatibility with Floor Coatings
1. High wear resistance and scratch resistance. The hardness is much higher than that of resin, calcium carbonate and talcum powder. It is not prone to scratches and grinding due to vehicle crushing, forklift friction and personnel movement. It greatly extends the service life of the floor and is just needed for heavy-duty factory buildings.
2. Resistant to chemical corrosion: It is not corroded by acids, alkalis, solvents, or oils, making it suitable for anti-corrosion flooring in chemical workshops, laboratories, and pickling workshops. It will not be dissolved or powdered by cleaning agents or machine oil.
3. Pure white color with stable hue; it will not turn yellow or gray. It can be mixed with color pastes to create pure white, light gray, and colored high-gloss flooring. Compared with quartz sand, white fused alumina has a higher whiteness, making it suitable for clean workshops with high aesthetic appeal (food, pharmaceutical, and electronics industries).
4. Controllable thermal conductivity and insulation: High-purity alumina has good insulation properties and is suitable for compounding with ordinary anti-static flooring; specially modified white fused alumina can assist in heat dissipation and is suitable for equipment room flooring.
5. Good compatibility with epoxy resin/polyurethane. After powder modification (coupling agent treatment), it can be uniformly dispersed in the resin system without clumping or sedimentation, and does not affect the leveling properties of the floor.
