I. Basic physical properties of 2000mesh white corundum

2000mesh white corundum, D50:6-8um, electrofused high-purity α-alumina powder.

Mohs hardness 9.0, true density 3.96 g/cm³, whiteness ≥85, oil absorption ≤8%, pH around 8.5, temperature resistance 2100℃, strong chemical inertness, acid and alkali resistance, and UV resistance. The granules have a multi-faceted structure, allowing for physical bonding with powdered resin; the very low oil absorption prevents excessive consumption of epoxy and polyester resins, and minimizes the risk of poor melt flowability in the coating.

II. Six Core Functions of White Corundum

1. Significantly improves coating hardness, scratch resistance, and abrasion resistance

White corundum powder is evenly distributed within the cured paint film, forming a rigid alumina framework; it resists steel wool abrasion, hard object scratches, and gravel impacts, making it ideal for hardware components, chassis housings, aluminum profiles, and elevator panel powder coatings.

2. Improves coating density, adhesion, corrosion resistance, and salt spray resistance

Angular particles embedded in the resin system enhance the resin-filler bonding strength; they fill the micropores of the paint film, blocking the penetration of water vapor, salt water, and corrosive media; after addition to anti-corrosion powder coatings for steel structures, galvanized parts, and pipelines, the salt spray duration is significantly increased, reducing defects such as peeling, pinholes, and water penetration.

3. Wear-resistant filler for light-colored, white, and colored powder coatings

Low iron oxide impurities, high whiteness; brown corundum has a high iron content and is prone to yellowing, while quartz powder is prone to graying; 2000 mesh fineness ensures a smooth and delicate paint surface after spraying, without coarse particles or pitting. Suitable for white, off-white, light gray, and colored high-end home appliances and aluminum alloy profile powder coatings.

4. Outdoor weather resistance and anti-aging, preventing coating chalking and loss of gloss

Alpha alumina is UV resistant, resistant to thermal shock, and chemically stable; when added to outdoor curtain walls, street light housings, and photovoltaic bracket powder coatings, it is less prone to chalking, fading, and cracking under prolonged sun exposure, enhancing weather resistance.

5. Matte/Semi-matte Adjustment, Replacing Traditional Organic Matte Powder

2000mesh white corundum is a fine-grained powder that can create delicate and soft matte and frosted paint finishes. Compared to conventional matte powders, white fused alumina also possesses wear-resistant properties, and the matte coating does not easily become glossier with friction. This combination of wear resistance and matte finish makes it ideal for equipment housings, toolboxes, and matte powder coatings on metal furniture.

6. High Temperature Resistance, Flame Retardant, and Insulation Modification

White corundum has a refractoriness of up to 2100℃. It can be added to powder coatings for high-temperature curing and high-temperature working parts (oven parts, high-temperature fixtures) to improve the heat resistance stability of the paint film. Simultaneously, alumina possesses insulating properties, making it suitable for insulating and wear-resistant powder coatings for electrical control housings and electrical components.
