What is friction materials?
Friction material is a component material,which is used in power machinery via friction to perform braking and transmission functions.Friction materials mainly includes brake pads and clutch plate.Brake pads are for braking and clutch plate for transmission.
Fraction materials is Polymer ternary composite materials,it owns three parts:
1.Binder-polymer compounds
2.Reinforcement components-inorganic or organic fibers
3.Performance Conditioner-filler
About filler,generally speaking there are two kinds:
1:Anti-friction filler:usually they are the low hardness material,whose mohs hardness is lower 2.0,for example :graphite,Molybdenum disulfide, talc, mica, etc.The materials can reduce both the friction coefficient and the wear of the mating material,then increase the service life of friction materials.
2.Fraction filler:their mohs hardness is higher than 3.0,higher hardness,better wear resistance,but need control its dosage and grains( such as abrasives aluminum oxide,silicon carbide and others)
PS;Abrasives aluminum oxide usually means white aluminum oxide and brown aluminum oxide;silicon carbide refers to black silicon carbide and green silicon carbide,their mohs hardness are separately as follows:
White aluminum oxide:9.0
Black silicon carbide:9.15
Green silicon carbide:9.4
Besides,there are some cases that our customers are using as filler for fraction materials:
White/brown aluminum oxide F180 F220 for production of brake pads and clutch plate;green silicon carbide F60…F1000 for brake pads of planes.
